Advocacy Campaign

To generate publicity and create engagement, we ran a mock election for Beaumont's first Canine Councillor. Residents could nominate their dog on our social media channels and through reactions to their posts, we would determine who was elected Beaumont's first Canine Councillor (not affiliated with The City of Beaumont).

We had 17 dogs run for Canine Councillor but more importantly we generated over 150 responses within a three week period using only social media channels (Facebook, Instagram) and a poster at the dog park.

The use of positivity to create publicity for the initiative was successful, as demonstrated by uptake of our story by local media and also the growth of the audience. We also received praise from City Council on finding a way to bring attention to our issue in a way that brought the community together.

Another area of success in our campaign, is our creation of an audience of dog park supporters, which can be used to publicize events and information regarding the dog park in the future.

The Beaumont Barks campaign achieved its overall goal of ensuring the dogs of Beaumont will be frolicking in a 12 acre area located within the West Side Recreation Area in Fall of 2021.

An example of how using creative communications solutions can create a big impact with lasting and positive outcomes.
